Sainsbury’s

Nick The sweep

Myself and three guys named Tom created this Christmas campaign for Sainsbury’s. Being the store’s 150th year, Sainsbury’s wanted a campaign that would warm the hearts of the nation with them at the centre.

The truth is Sainsbury’s have been at the heart of the UK’s Christmas since 1869. Around the same period, kids began expecting gifts from a man with a white beard. Coincidence? Almost certainly.

This is the original Christmas origin story. The tongue in cheek tale of Nick The Sweep.

Food FILMS

As well as the brand film we created a series of food films based in the 1869 Sainsbury’s store from the main film, narrated by the silky smooth voice of Brian Cox (not that one).

OOH.

Taking inspiration from the Sainsbury’s archive and Victorian decoupage, we created a print and OOH campaign that felt both contemporary and dynamic whilst in-keeping with our film. Food was shot with Chiaroscuro lighting, elevated with period styling.

metro wrap

To launch, we created a bespoke Metro cover wrap in the tone of the campaign that featured headlines and stories that teased the plot, with interviews from the film’s characters. We created humourous 1869 style horoscopes, as well as custom ads such as ‘horse and cart delivery, with zero emissions’ and even squeezed Plug Boy in from the previous year’s campaign.
